Default Processor/Mobo for 10-15k

I need a VFM cpu\combo for all round use. I have 2 combination in mind

1. I have seen an unparalleled praise for Intel Core 2 Duo E7400 (Wolfdale, 2.8 GHz, 1067 MHz FSB, 3 MB L2) + g31 combination.

2. Gigabyte MA770T-UD3P Mainboard + AMD Phenom II X2 550 (Callisto, 3.1 GHz, 2 x 512 KB L2, 6 MB L3) gaining a good respect from xbitlabs (unfathomable trust in their reviews).

The cpu specs and mobo details of second one are more encouraging but i want members' opinion.

Also please give the price for each specific component in NP

Gigabyte G31
Intel E7400
Gigabyte MA770T-UD3P
AMD Phenom II X2 550
Transcend\Kingston 2 GB (Since DDR3 isnt cheap yet)

or any other cpu/mobo combo recommendation in my price range(RAM included in case of DDR3).

The best DDR3 system for you

AMD Phenom II X2 550 -> 5.5k max
Biostar TA790GX AM3 -> 6.5k max
Corsair xms3 / OCZ / G skill DDR3 2GB -> 3k max

Total ~15k. You can sleep in peace without worrying about the future.

For the best DDR2 system, consider this :-

Phenom II X4 940 -> 10k
Biostar TA790GX 128 M -> 5k

Either get Gigabyte G31 + E5200 + DDR2 (and put the saved money in something else you're buying/pocket it)
OR,
Get AM3 Mobo + x2 550 BE + DDR3 RAM
Not much point going for anything in the middle.

With that kind of a budget, go for a Phenom II X2 550 and a 790FX based MoBo. Makes most sense. Try to get hold of the Black edition so that you get superb overclocking ability.
