Angry Phenom 9950 weird temps - Please help

my system
asus m2n32 sli deluxe wifi
phenom 9550 @ 2.3 ghz @ 1.2v (fsb 210)
(note to mods: its an insignificant overclock so posting it here)
corsair xms2 800mhz 1gb x 2
psu corsair vx450
gpu palit 9500 gt 512 ddr2
cpu cooler: 1> ocz vendetta 2
2> stock amd
taken under identical conditions i am attaching some screen shots those with higher idle temp and LOWER LOAD (few minutes of prime 95) TEMPS are the stock cooler
when it ran with full load on vendetta i touched the top fin
it was quite cool, the air coming out is also cool enough
the copper fins on the mobo are far hotter
also please note that core temp and hwmonitor have almost same temps but asus probe shows about 15 degree higher
why is the vendetta 2 NON-EFFECTIVE
FAN SPEEDS AT LOAD STOCK 6K VENDETTA 1.5K

yes ... prime95 is suppose to increase temp ... make sure u clean ur cpu surface and cooler surface with cleaner and then apply cooling paste again

my i7 920 cpu temp goes from 40c to 59c under 100% load @3.6GHz

I'm not clearly getting you. Which TIM are you using? Get good quality TIM like MX2, OCZ Freeze or similar, reapply after cleaning the CPU and HSF thoroughly with isopropyl alcohol.

1. Check your temperatures in BIOS and see how much they vary. Coretemp does not correctly work with AMD setups.

2. High CPU temp + cool cooler = not enough heat being transferred. Your mounting may be problematic (human error) or you might have put a huge load of thermal goop. The Vendetta 2 is rated for a temperature rise of 22 degrees under full 125 watt load in the FT review. With the higher ambient temps in India and with a more user-oriented mounting (ie not perfect) 30 degrees seems fair. However, the fact that the air and the top fin is cool is suspect (also that the 9550 is a 95 watt processor, not 125 watt). Try touching the top heatpipe. It should be nice and toasty - should not burn your hand, but you should have to pull your hand off after a few seconds. If it is cool, you have a heat transfer issue.

3. Ask a mod to correct the thread title. It's 9550, not 9950. Totally different story.

MODS PLEASE CHANGE TITLE FROM 9950 TO 9550
Thanks for the suggestions cranky. No idea how i got the title wrong
@Mav 2000 the point is not the thermal material but the ineffectiveness of the vendetta relative to stock cooler. I think it must be due to improper mounting
any suggestions how to improve the contact pressure?

Asus motherboards seem to have a nasty habit of overvolting.

Try updating the BIOS.

Well if it was overvolting it would do that on the stock cooler as well. Now correct me if I am wrong, there are 4 pics that u have posted on the first post.

pic 1 and 2 are of V2 and 3 and 4 are of stock cooler... is that correct? Its actually quite confusing and I am going by fan speeds, but u seem to be getting similar temps on both setups...anyway have u used a PROPER cleaner and TIM?????

Secondly, get back to stock and then show load and idle temps for both coolers, with only 2 pics. The four pics are really confusing me now. I think ure sensors are not working at all or are going nuts. Just look at the NB temps, under temp2 in the last pic. 100 degrees on the NB is suicide.

Thirdly, the top heatpipe may not be hot, I dont think I ever felt that the top of the heatpipes are hot, specially since all HDT coolers work on a wick system and the top is where they are probably the coolest.

Why delete have u solved the problem?

But u are getting same temps on both coolers....this is now very confusing...the only thing I can add here is that the temp sensors seem to be having fun with you.

If pics 1+4 are stock, why such a change in temps.....
