Did you consider the PSU? Which is the one you’ve got? Perhaps the power supplied is not sufficient at full load. Try changing the PSU after checking its output.
Hey guys,
Problem when gaming. After 15-20 mins into a game the PC freezes with sounds stuck in a loop. Especially so with COD4-MW, it can only run for @ most 10 mins then PC crashes with weird pixelation on screen.
Although I know most will suggest that GPU heating is the problem, but I had cleaned it up about couple of months ago & since then till now it stays within limits (60-90 :S). Earlier it was 70-108. More so it being an OC edition card.
So I down clocked core/shader/mem from 650/1800/950 (MSI OC ed stock) to 600/1500/900 (8800 stock) & rest CPU/mem/FSB back to stock still its the same hang problem:@ No gaming for now on 8800
Mem sticks are fine, tested with memtest. Even tested with 1 stick @ a time. Funnily enough prime95 runs 2-3 hrs fine without any problem.
Can ne1 suggest something else to look into? BTW theres only a regular heatsink on the MB NB which gets very hot whilst gaming/freeze & its got a sticker on it that says warranty void if removed, so cant use my HR05 sli cooler on it. Does DFI really void warranty if I replace cooler??
Could that be the problem extra PCIE 2.0 bandwidth going through NB & it gets hot & freezes. Just a theory if sounding like a noob
Will try & put in a spare 8400gsin it & test gaming. & also check 8800 on my old XFX 650i & Asus 7050 boards.
Meanwhile all suggestions welcome..Thanks

@ otpsurvive, thanks for the response.
It was the GPU overheatingat least the RAM & PWM ICs I think. So ordered a TR Trad2 gtx. Its gettin borin to do saaf-safai after every couple of weeks, never mind the warranty.
Still there's some issue with my PSU. I OC (FSB) then start, all ok. Then I shutdown & restart after 10-15 mins, no post, have to clear CMOS & then run stock & then OC. Strange stuffBeen ~2yrs on CM 600w almost 24x7, may be time to change PSU

Try running on onboard or on that 8400GS,it will take the load out of the PSU and you will come to know if PSU is the culprit.CM extreme power PSUs aren't good so there is a good possibility that it is the culprit.By the way those GPU temps are high.
