Mobo CD Needed.. Help !!

My download rig's BIOS got corrupted this morning, The motherboard is ASUS A8V-VM SE..

It supports automatic BIOS recovery from mobo CD but the problem is I do not have the mobo disc. If somebody has this mobo then please let me know. I only need the disc image & not the original CD..

dont have the cd, but i guess the bios recovery util can be downloaded (somewhere) and then pushed to a bootable cd using a different system....

chk if ur mobo supports bios recovery frm usb drive, if yes put bios file in usb and boot ur pc.

^.. nope.. USB drive recovery not supported.... Only Floppy & CD-ROM...

I tried by writing the BIOS file to a CD but it didn't read the disc... it needs motherboard CD which is also a bootable disc...

I have a similarly old ASUS A8V-Deluxe Motherboard and here is how it can be recovered from a corrupted BIOS.

The BIOS image file has to be in the root directory of the CD or Floppy.
The BIOS image file has a unique name for each mode of ASUS Motherboard.
For my A8V-Deluxe it is A8V.ROM

From you Motherboard manual find out what BIOS image file name it is expecting. If you don't have manual handy you can download it from the ASUS support site.

I don't know if A8V-VM is same as A8V-VM SE,
a google search with "ASUS A8V-VM SE corrupt BIOS recovery .rom"
tells me it should have the name A8VVM.ROM

I have downloaded the manual for A8V-VM SE (a8v-vm_se.pdf) and it says on page 2-3 that the BIOS image file name has to be A8VVMSE.ROM

The manual also gives clear instructions for all methods of BIOS recovery.

Apparently it worked... its just that there was no confirmation message so i thought it failed to read the BIOS file.... but I booted the computer later only to find that the BIOS is indeed recovered...

welcome back to the system.....now keep that cd marked and safe somewhere....

No need.. It works by reading the root of the CD... So in future if something like this happens then I will just have to write the BIOS file "A8VVMSE.ROM" to any CD & use it... By the way it was a rewritable CD that I used...
