I know a similar thread exist but this one is not formatted one

    but still a gist one

    45nm gets $2 cheaper

Intel plans to release new CPU prices that will be effective as of Sunday, April 20th. It will dramatically affect the prices of the older 65nm SKUs, while the 45nm parts will get just slightly cheaper. When we say slightly we literally mean $2 cheaper.

The high-end model that will get reduced in price is the Core 2 Quad Q9550 at 2.83GHz and 12MB cache and it will get 2 dollars cheaper from its current $527 to $525. These are, of course, the wholesale prices.

The very popular Core 2 Quad Q9450 at 2.66GHz and 12MB cache will drop from $319 to $317. The Core 2 Quad Q9300 at 2.5GHz and 6MB cache will drop from $270 to $268.

Two older models, the Q6700 with a 2.66GHz clock speed and 8MB cache and a 1066MHz FSB speed will drop from the current $527 to $268. The ultra popular 65nm Kentsfield Q6600 with its 2.4GHz clock and 8MB cache will drop from $250 to $227.

All dual core 45nm E8x0 series Penryn based models will drop $2 and as of next week, the E8500 with 3.16GHz clock 6MB cache and FSB 1333 will drop to $266, the E8400 with a 3GHz clock and 6MB cache and FSB 1333 will drop to $187; and finally, the E8200 clocked at 2.66GHz with 6MB cache and FSB 1333 drops to $167.

The older 65nm E6850 at 3GHz and 4MB cache drops to $266, the E6750 at 2.66GHz and 4MB cache drops to $187, and the E6550 at 2.33GHz and 4MB cache drops to $167.

The 4-series of Core 2 Duo processors will also drop slightly in price. Starting with the E4700 with 2.60GHz clock, 800MHz FSB speed and 2MB cache drops $2 to $137, the E4600 with 2.40GHz clock, 800MHz FSB speed and 2MB cache drops from $139 to $117 while the E4500 with 2.20GHz clock 800MHz FSB speed and 2MB cache drops $2 to $117.

    Pentium dual cores and Celerons

A few cheaper dual core Pentium and Celeron CPUs will get even more cheaper and here is the list. Pentium dual core E2200 with 2.2GHz with 1MB cache and 800MHz FSB will sink from current $87 to $77.

E2180 with 2.0GHz clock with 1MB cache and 800MHz FSB will drop from current $77 to $67. Pentium dual core E2160 with 1.8GHz with 1MB cache and 800MHz FSB stays at its current $67. All three CPUs are Allendale dual core manufactured in 65nm, the old ones sort to say.

The last three affected are Celerons, and dual core Celeron E1200 stays at $54, while Celeron single core 440 with 2.00GHz clock and 512KB cache and 800MHz FSB sinks from current $54 to $45.

The last to be affected is single core Celeron 430 with 1.8GHz speed, 512KB cache and FSB 800, and it will drop from its current $45 to $35.

A lot of 65nm Xeons will also drop in price.

^^Theres only a 2$ price cut But price should go down a bit more because of greater supply as these processors are currently in short supply

No rumours or news of any delays so far. The E8300 is also expected I believe. How many days before the price drop is reflected here in India? I'm interested in E8300 and the price drop so I can start ordering stuff for my rig

To be frank a 65W 45W TDP dual cores are more than enough for most people, don't understand why people want to buy Quads & burn more electricity!

Use Athlon X2's u'll save many things.

    not really

now core2duos are havin lesser power consumption esp under loads

We most of the Time use just less than 2% of Processor's power.

And how good are those Athlon X2's good @ handling rendering apps,
As good as Intels when u compare those Prices.

Not everything depends of Processor alone, Think about Good Mobo, RAM & GPU.

Make that "We" a "I". Nobody I know just keeps the PC switched on doing nothing but staring at the desktop (which would account for 2% usage). If we're not doing anything else, we crunch for WCG or we switch the PC off.
