Improve the cabinet airflow, which case do you have? And post the temps in Celsius
Also make sure of not over-applying the thermal paste, as it will be actually detrimental. Search the forums Eazy had posted a nice tutorial if I am not mistaken.
Well I was pissed with SCCF and I removed it .. Wow ! It came out a bit easilyInstalling would be mess so I won't think atm..
I applied 2 drops of pastes and spread a lil . and installed STOCK HSF... The temps are unbearably high![]()
Mb shows 49-53 *C atm...

Now the room has only 1 ceiling fan no cooler and ac.. and its pretty hot out here.. Will be getting a room cooler soon..
What more should I do to lower the temps. Or should I let it be like this and let it die and RMA it with Phenom II sicne Phenom I is eol![]()
AMD C'nQ enabled and should I lowed the volts and underclock the PC ?
Do the needful![]()

^^I have one rear and one front 120mm BLUE LED fans with 43CFM.. I have thermaltake M9 caseThe air pressure is maintained since both intake and exhaust are same so its decent air flow nothing too much to brag abt.. Thermaltake Global > Product > Chassis > MidTower > M9 > VI1000BWS
The temps are varying from 49-53 in degree Celsius as shown by MB temp display .. Fan is rotating very fast and thus producing a bit of noise
Sunbeam was able to lower the temps till 40-46 *C....But installing is PITA, will try that tomorrow but I am planning to sell it![]()

The stock amd heatsinks suck,...but I dont think they are sooo bad that you would end up with those type of temps. My suggestion, check the mounting again. Normally AMD stock mounting is very easy and cant make a mistake even if you try, but just check it once more. Also it could be more of the TIM issue. Check how the TIM has spread as of now and if it is even.. Cheers.
53"C at loads is not bad, and dont worry the proccy wont die. I had a Socket 754 based proccy idling at 60"C since three years, and I suppose it yet works.
Phenom 1 has a high thermal envelope, so those temps are normal AFAIK. One of the reason I told everyone to avoid the series![]()
The temps are prolly becoz of no air cooling in room isn't it ? Friend having X3 8750 BE running @ 35*C and 44 @ load.. He even Oced it to 3.4ghz ... Only he has AC in his house
Darn these hostels![]()

Funny. I have a 9950BE with the CCF, and at idle it runs about 40-44 degrees in a very hot room without AC (the temp inside is about 36-37 degrees on a hot day, and about 31 degrees now). And this is a much more power-hungry processor than the 8650.
Never tries this CPU with the stock heatsink, but those temps actually sound about right, it's ~ 15 degrees above ambient temps, upto 20 degrees is actually what a stock heatsink can do, the better ones about 15 degrees. For better cooling it has to be aftermarket, or a cooler room.
i m buying amd 720be tomorrow .. and gng to use it with stock amd cooler.. with zebie bijali cabbie..
is amd have lot of heating issues???? or what... is compulsory to use it with coolers??
^^ No man you need not worry. AMD 720 is Phenom II which is built using 45nm tech. Whereas older Phenom I's which is being discussed here is built on 65nm and are known to have some heat issues.
I am using the same proccy and Cabinet combo u mentioned. No problemooooo!!

Ok ok ! Its raining here fr past 1 hrs. . I was sleepingand now temps down to 39*C as shown by Mb.. I believe I need something to lower down the atmos. temps.. inorder to run the system cool
@sangram sir ; Yep it was exactly the same with CCF and high atmos. temp.. 40-44....
@waney : Chill it is just becoz of my hot room. Nothing to worry.....
Edit: Its 49 againWell i need more intake and better CFM fans

ur processor is angry coz u removed sccf
things will be back to normal widin a month i guess...me2 waitin for it to start raining
consider cooling of ur psu...it seems to be running out of desired limits...
overvolting might be causing it to run hot.
also..do not depend on lm-sensors etc.. they seem to output funny readings for my athlon X2 / 690G based machine.
check temps n voltages in hw monitor widin bios..
Please Do yourself a favour of searching

I assume it's going up when you are using the system? This is usually a sign of a very poor heatsink and high ambient temps. I don't understand why you removed the CCF, unless you have a really good reason to, I'd urge you to put it back.
Well I would love to place it again but I am not gng to. !Its too hard to install and its beyond my power
The NB HSF do interfere a bit making it even impossible to install.. I would sell it and get a UL90![]()
