Default Help me Decide Which Proc to buy!

Hey guy i am selling my e8400 as i believe the whole batch suffered from a problem of overheating & was unable to overclock.

Now i am planning to buy the E8500, but again i am a bit confused.

Please help me decide what proc to buy, should i go for the E8500 or Quad6600 or anything else. My max budget is 10000/-.

Please help me with your suggestion as will be buying within 4-5 days.

Tell us what u gonna use the proccy for.

If its Holistic Gaming then going for 8500 is a good option.

But if its going to be Gaming + 3D + Encoding then Quaddy is what u need.

Why dont u get it replaced from Intel if you are facing this problem. If it is a processor related problem you will get a replacement.

Get the 45nm QUAD if you are going for one.
But again the procc you need depends on your needs ... for OC'ng stick with E8xxx series.

as stated depends heavily on your usage.... get quad for apps which are made for multithreading (encoding / rendering and stuff) else get 8xxx series....

wonder how much the quad power consumption is.... are they stable for 24x7 rig..???

QUADS Are not meant to be on 24 X 7 duty .. though they will work perfectly fine ..
IF 24 X 7 means crunching + downloading ... its recommended to scout for a Pentium3 or equivalent as a download rig

There's a whole misnomer thing going that quads are bad for gaming, since clock wise, C2Ds are faster and this is what games need. Yep, its true that a Q6600 will be slower than an E8400 in 95% of games, but the margin isn't much. Its playable FPS that you should be looking at. A quad gives a lot more flexibility in terms of multi tasking, which I personally love.

If you want future proofing, look at the Q9300 or the Q6600. If you want raw FPS in games then look at the E8500.

^^^who said quads aren't meant for/cannot do 24/7? Cool them well, and watch them go...
