AM3 is future proof but AM2+ is VFM. As i know computer has a lifetime of 3 years, so it will be better to go with AM2+(Phenom 550 is best). But you can chose phenom x4(810) around that price. Still you can consider Phenom x3(720) will be better than 810.Why are you going with 4850, consider 4770. It consumes less power and much cooler than any of the main stream GPU both from ATI and nvida. Price of 4770 (512mb) will be arround 7000/- in mumbai and 4850(512mb) will be 6800/- in mumbai. Now the choice is yours.

AM3 BOARD if you can afford it. 785g is coming in a months time ( most probably) or even less to all shops. 4k -5k can get you a good AM3 mAtx mobo with 785g chipset. DDR3 ram is quiet expensive though. for 5k you can get normal sticks with 4gb memory only and 1333MHz and CL9. Buy OCZ reapers or platinum from KMD they will cost a little less (4k) but will perfom a lot better.

Thanks for the reply guys
the thing with 4770 is the availability issue my friend and 4850 is indisputably better though i agree it consumes less power. If it was the hd4750 its a different ball game as it is rumoured to be much cheaper and almost as powerful as 4850.
at the end of the day it boils down to power
and 4850 provides it with the best price/performance ratio

If you go for a X4 810 + Saphire HD4850 DS ~ Rs 14,5000/-
X4 920 + Saphire HD4850 DS ~ Rs 16,450/-

If you are planning a PII X4 then better go for a X4 920

WIth an AM3 chip on AM2+ you are free to choose the upgrade path If you want anything better look for PII X4 945

yes, got my corsair vx 450 from ebay with a 20% coupon for 3.6k, but it was a different seller though.

btw, in ebay if u use paisapay, the seller doesnt get the payment unless and until u confirm the receipt of the item

but nevertheless, if u get from a local dealer its good, many people are reluctant to buy stuff online so its natural.
