Default IPS Monitors

I need some advice from people who have used IPS monitors for home use. Is it worth spending the extra money on an IPS monitor such as the Dell 2209WA for viewing HD movies and general internet usage. I will not use it for any graphic work at all. Are the colors that much better for games and movies or should I just stick with a good TN panel such the Dell 2309? Appreciate your input.

Depends on distance and viewing angle. Once you get about 6 feet away from a TN monitor and remain perfectly aligned to the center of the screen, there is no problem. At closer distances the peripheries of the screen are at an odd angle and will appear discoloured.

I would never go back to a TN panel. Ever.

well for internet usuage no u don't need a IPS,for HD movies it depends.
i too don't like TN,but unfortunatley thats what i use.
now in TN as the screen size increases u better increase ur viewing distance otherwise u will see a color shift more verticaly,i.e for eg i sit about 24 to 30" froma 22" screen, the colors in the bottom are washed out and at the top u loose details, like shadow details.
