    Hey guys,

I want to purchase the Samsung DVD-1080PK dvd player with HD and USB. But none of the dealers seem to have it! Any place where one can get it or maybe if someone can point me towards an electronic shop which keeps multiple brands.

I only knew Music Shop in Khan Market but they are temp shut and they never seem to give a discount.

Good luck with that dude! Called all the dealers possible and none of them had it! Thr was one shop in Karol Bagh called Radio something which had the player but they were not giving any discount and I hated the owners attitude.

Even went to NEXT and Jumbo Electronics in Gurgaon but they also didnt have it. If you do find it let me know for my own curiosity

I went and bought the LG DV388 for 4500 and the guy threw in a HDMI cable for free. I know Samsung is better than LG but all of them are selling 1080F aka Pebble. 1080PK is missing in action There is Philips and Pioneer too but its around 5500 MRP.

    Hi,

I tried those dealers and believe me when they say they have the 1080 they mean the 1080F aka Pebble.

Mmm what files are those? Can you point me towards a small file and I can download and chk if you want

Its playing DIVX, JPEG etc from the USB perfectly and I tested out a recently released UK dvd in 1080 and I loved the pic quality.

The only thing I hated was the cheapo remote. Very plasticy but otherwise till now I am quite satisfied. I had a LG player before too and it was quite a workhorse.

I have PMed you the link for the sample file. It's a 1080p mkv sample file, 72MB in size. It uses the x264 codec. If the file size is too large, i could look for other as well.

Actually i'm not buying a dvd player, it's just that i wanted to know if the new players are able to play them or not, looks like there aren't big improvements w.r.t format support on standalone dvd players. Mine is an old philips dvd player, supports divx though.

Pioneer one is selling for 5500 I think. This price was quoted to me by a friends friend who deals in grey market products though this one was in warraty. Its suppose to be a decent player but we currently have a pioneer dvd sans HDMI and I wasnt too impressed with it. It takes forever to load and doesnt read DIVX files as quickly I would like to them. Also I found the interface not too intuitve and hence I wasnt keen on another Pioneer esp since thr is a diff of grand.

Jumbo electronics would have the Pioneer one in stock by next week. The guys at gurgaon were quite helpful so you can try them out. HDMI and USB combo for some strange reason is hard to get in Delhi barring LG.

Hey I just remember if you dont mind spending 5K, All India Radio Electronics in Karol Bagh have the player. I spoke to them on the phone and he quoted me the 4999 and refused a discount. You can call him once just to confirm.

tried jumbo in noida .. but witout luck.. ! lets c.. called up my friend who owns a electronics store.. said hel arrange for the same in day or two.. !

btw which model should i go for in pioneer.. im goin 2 connect the player to the tv which is inturn connected to my home theatre system(a 5.1 system) .. so i believe pioneer has 2 models .. 410(which has 2.1 sound ) and 610(which has 5.1 sound out) .. do i need to spend extra on the 610 or would the ht system take care of that?

Edit: another question o/t: need to get dth connection . Now iv already got 2 tv's running tata sky at home and so am wondering is the big tv picture worth the while in getting now or should i just get another tata sky connection. As if i get tata i just pay 125/month whereas wit big il land up paying bout 300/month.. is it really worth the difference?
