my friend recently got LG 200Hz LCD for 66.5K. Don't remember the model number. But he is very happy with the purchase. I liked it too and was going to buy it but my eyes were set on plasma so didn't go for it.

go for lg, the 100hz or 200hz whichever u go for the picture quality is way better than the normal 50hz panels of any brand. u can also go for lg scarlet 2.0 with 100hz for 62.5k last price at girias.

well i would pick the samsung b530/550,priced realy cheap was as low as 47k.

the g10 is good doesn't have the best image processing.also if ur room is lit well u may not notice those blacks and the plasmas lack of brightness isn't going to help much.

for a controlled environment its good, again not recommended to use it with PC gaming etc.

so u turn off the lights and watch.well again not all people have dark rooms.in my living room their is plently of light, despite having put some heavy curtains.

in the night i watch with adequate light with around 1200 to 1300 lumens coming out of a 20watts cfl bulb.

well the OP said he also uses it for PC gaming.

    Console Gaming

If you’re not one of the few unfortunate viewers with high retinal persistence who are extremely susceptible to phosphor trails on plasma televisions, high-definition gaming on the Panasonic TX-P42G10 will be a blast thanks to its punchy contrast, vibrant colours, lucid detail, and almost non-existent input lag.

Objective measurements placed input lag with [Game Mode] activated at up to 21ms faster than our resident Samsung F96 LED-backlit LCD TV. Even if [Game Mode] was not engaged, the TX-P42G10 was on par with the F96 regardless of whether [Intelligent Frame Creation] was on or off.

well not everyone picked the g10,i posted the link b'cause of the effect of the light
The Panasonic handled motion admirably and had very acceptable color and shadow detail. But its black level dropped substantially when the room lights were on, and that alone was enough to lose it my first-place vote
While the plasma still had a better pic- ture off axis, the Sony’s color fidelity was far more natural and consistent, which is entirely inconsistent with my overall experience with LCDs. To top it off, turning on even a little room light killed the plasma, while the Sony still looked awesome. I’m a kook who prioritizes nighttime movie watching, but the Sony had the better blacks with the lights out, too. So my little world was really turned upside down. I’m a plasma guy. I own a plasma. I love my plasma! But this Sony was the best of the bunch.

Pardon me for a n00bish query but do plasmas fair well for console gaming? I thought the LCD TVs or rather the LED TVs faired better?

The review link TH posted seems to say the opposite!

^^ the only disadvantage of using a plasma screen for gaming is that if u pause a game for hour or so and leave the screen on it might cause a permanent burn in, also you get temporary image retention, also they suffer from phosphor trails .But most plasmas made today have measures to counter the above situations

well plasmas fair better in input lag, although some lcds do quite good.the input lag within 30ms should be acceptable even for the hardcore gamer.

plasmas also natively show better motion, offcourse lcds with 100hz ,200hz do fair quite good, but engaging this mode increases input lag.

    l

ast years sony tvs based on BE2,had a realy low input lag if u look at HDTVtest sony z4500 review which has 200hz motionflow,u can see that the input lag is 0-10ms with game mode and 16 to 31ms with the 200hz processing, which is excellent.

this years sony and samsung have not so great input lag, because of better image processing related to upscaling,de-interlacing etc but drawback is slightly higher input lag.very high in samsung, but acceptable in game mode.

(although some reports indicate that samsung has lowered the input lag in recent lcds tvs).

offcourse IPS based lcds still have the edge in input lag due to lower native response time.

now games are digitaly rendered so are animated movies.these look good in lcds, due to nature of lcds which produce a sharp, crisp image.

below are images taken from a panasonic g10(above) and a samsung 7 series luxia lcd(below).

here is another image below the panasonic g10

below image of samsung 7 series lcd

then finaly their is IR in plasmas,if u google u will lots of info and dedicated threads about IR.which have been reported even in new 09 plasmas.

Huh? The LG site says that the 42LH90 is about 90k. How do you say it's in the OP's budget (60K)?

well some have bought it for a lot lower around 67k and OP budget is 70k,MRP prices of samsung and lg are bull, massive difference b/w mrp and street prices.
