Sony has already stopped releasing feature phones and soon it may be looking to abandon entry level smartphones market in which has smartphones like Xperia Tipo.

According to a report by Cnet Asia , Stephen Sneeden, Xperia product marketing manager has told them that Sony wants to be in the big league being a premium smartphone provider.

"We're ready to be a premium smartphone provider, logically then, at the very entry level is where you lose the 'Sonyness'. And it's where you cannot implement some of these wonderful things from Sony at such a low cost, we might leave the very entry tier to some other manufacturers," Sneeden said.

He added that premium to mid range tier seems more suitable to Sony as features from flagship devices trickle down to mid-range. He said that Sony cannot compromise on the user experience by offering lower price products.

This seems to be good strategy from Sony as it has released many entry level smartphones but most of them are not doing good in terms of quality and user experience as one expects from Sony products.
