User Guides OverClocking Made Easy !!!!!!!!!!

This i not my work i just ripped it off some forum. And all reps goes to the original post. Reps in my favour will be appreciated too !!!!!!!!!
I know that a huge amount users around know bout these but for the novice
here it is. There are other software which can do the same but i like this one.

Keep in mind that overclocking may damage your system.
Use it at your own risk !

This thread is dedicated to people with HP's, Emechines, Compaq, Dell, or any store bought computer, If you have had yours from a local computer shop, your uncle's brother, or something not store bought, then using ATI's ATITool which was built just for overclocking.... Most companies, like dell, block ATITool so you cant fry your CPU

First off, download Clockgen [http://www.cpuid.com/download/ClockGen.zip]

Secondly, download Cpu-z [http://www.cpuid.com/download/cpu-z-138.zip]

Now, go to CPU-z, and hit the "Mainboard" tab.

You should see something similar to this. Pay attention to what I circled.

Thats the Intel Chipset.

Now open clockgen. Go to PLL Setup, it asks you some information.

See where it says, "Not specified", click that tab. You see a bunch of numbers. Look at this chart:
Go here for a better compability list with mobo model # and also
it as a better guide than this one
ClockGen
Code:
IC Family Manufacturer Model
ICS 9500XX SiS 7xx
ICS 9501XX SiS 6xx
ICS 9502XX Intel 845
ICS 9504XX AMD K8
ICS 9505XX Intel 810/815
ICS 9506XX VIA PLL133T/694T
ICS 9507XX Intel 850
ICS 9508XX Intel 830M/845M
ICS 9509XX VIA P4X266
ICS 9510XX VIA Pro266T
ICS 9511XX ALI 1671/1672
ICS 9512XX ALI 1667
ICS 9514XX ATI All models
ICS 9517XX ALI 1644
ICS 9519XX SiS 550
ICS 9520XX SiS 645/650
ICS 9522XX ALI 1647
ICS 9524XX SiS 658
ICS 9525XX ALI 1681
ICS 9526XX Intel 865/875
ICS 9527XX SiS 746
ICS 9528XX SiS 755/760
ICS 9541XX Intel 955/975

See my number earlier? The 965 number? I basically look on that chart, and see where it matches up and take the number at the beginning. Mine would be 955/975, but why? It isn't updated with newer models. The 955/975 is also applied to 945. Additionally, most new intel based models carry this. When you use clockgen and select "9541XX", the XX there will be 3 other choices on this. The lowest number is if your CPU has a 133mhz fsb clock, middle is 200mhz, and highest is 266. If you don't know where your fsb clock is, go to CPU-z program main and it tells you.

From there, after you did that, open up the tab that says PLL Control. There you can adjust your clocks if you did it right.

Now don't get excited, now that you can adjust, if you can, but your memory can be a big factor on how far you can go. Go to your bios and set the memory on the lowest frequency possable, or your memory on a 1:1 bridge to the fsb.

If you don't got options, most likely not, just up the fsb a little. Try 10mhz at first (To the FSB), then open up "Orthos Stress Test" ( techPowerUp! :: Download Orthos Stress Prime 2004 )

Open up two of those, change the options to "Stress CPU Only", and the other one to "Stress ram and cpu". Let it run for at least 3 hours. While doing this, download Everest or Speedfan (google for downloads), and monitor your CPU temp. If it goes past 65, stop, go back to your stock settings.

Any questions or comments please feel free to post.
