Although everyone was expecting Nokia to put its PureView technology inside a Windows Phone device a few months ago, the Finnish company met customers’ demands only partly.

The Lumia 920 is the first Windows Phone handset to integrate the multi-awarded PureView imaging technology.

However, the smartphone packs a much downgraded sensor and lacks the oversampling technology that makes PureView so awesome.

Well, it looks like Nokia is finally ready to add the full power of PureView technology to Windows Phone platform.

Tom Warren of The Verge has it from sources close to the matter that Nokia is ready to launch a new Windows Phone handset with proper PureView technology.

This means that we might finally see the 41-megapixel sensor inside the Nokia 808 PureView Symbian smartphone, included onto a Windows Phone device.

Codenamed Nokia EOS, the smartphone is said to go official later this year and will be positioned among the most advanced Windows Phone devices launched by the Finnish company.

Keep in mind that Nokia EOS is just a codename and has nothing to do with Cannon’s line of cameras.

According to The Verge, EOS’ body will be made of aluminum instead of the usual polycarbonate material. Design-wise, Nokia will try a new approach and the EOS will be the first from a new range of Lumia phones with “squared edges.”

However, given Nokia EOS’ top-notch hardware, the superphone is not meant to replace the Lumia 920. Instead, the Finnish handset maker plans to launch the Nokia Catwalk, another rumored Windows Phone 8 device said to feature an aluminum body.

Last but not least, Nokia’s roadmap for 2013 also includes a mid-range Lumia smartphone which is expected to hit shelves in early summer.

AT&T customers will be happy to know that Nokia EOS is expected to be offered by their carrier later this year. Still, other operators might carry this PureView smartphone as well, so stay tuned for more updates on the matter.

^ Or rather, launch it in the market. Dates are the least of their worries, though they haven't exactly done stellar with those either

Great to hear this news here and read at verge, but I doubt it is 41 MP on-board at maintaing the slim profile of lumia's. As the former Imaging guru Damian Dinning himself told (gave a hint during 808 launch) the 41MP is the extreme for a phone and that sensor in a retail product one of its own kind, but surely next gen windows phone from the house of nokia contain 20-25mp Pureview sensor......

.......which in any case great for the consumers.

Wish/Hope they port the OIS of 920 and a Xenon Flash of 808 into upcoming Lumia Camera Flagship as well as maintain thin profile of the windows phone.
