Microsoft Windows Phone to be free for phones and smaller tablets

Microsoft looking to gain market share by making Windows Phone software free to manufacturers for devices with screen size smaller than 9 inches! (costs from $5 to $15 per device presently)

Also, it will offer Office 365 free for a year with the software..

yeah, things seem to be moving now that Balmer has been put out to pasture.

So the 8.1 update is rolling out. It has some much wanted improvments.

A centralised notifications drop down, ability to set seperate volume level for ringer and audio, amongst others.
