Android LG G2 OTG Hard Disk problem

Whenever i am trying to plugin my 500GB WD Elements using OTG cable on my LG G2, my phone restarts. I have seen people on youtube using the same on their LG G2. Is it some issue with my hard drive, OTG cable, or handset? How can i use the hard disk with otg?

Similarly, my 32GB thumb drive is also not detecting, else my 32GB card with card reader, 4GB thumb drive etc all are working fine. What to do? :(
 
Surely can be kernel. Are you using cutom ROM/Kernel ? People on youtube probably will be using custom kernel m guessing ?
