Hi

After the HP TP firesale payment fiasco and advent of international courier services like SNS and ICC I feel we should have a thread to list websites where Indian CC works . It will save members from the CC authorization hold being placed by websites and wasting time and resources .

On many websites Indian CC have started working after the CC address updation trick

CC address trick

1 Call your bank CC helpline

2 Tell them you want to update the office address to a US address as you are going there for office work , holidays whatever . Just convince rep that you will be using it in US .

3 Tell them the SNS or ICC US address

4 If the rep says cannot add US address then tell them to just add it in profile or records . This will not be visible in your online profile page but if the rep adds it in office address that would be visible

5 Start shopping

Can add websites from all over the world but as SNS and ICC cater only US i have updated US only . SNS does cater for UK and China also

List is not restricted to SNS or ICC shipping but many websites offer free shipping to India
 
CC Address trick didn't work for me (ICICI) Called customer care numerous times and they said it can't be done as its a US address. Emailed them as well, same response! :(
 
I have most of the major credit cards, so can anyone confirm which one works for the CC address trick ? I have a suspicion that none of them would allow a US address to be added.
 
For HDFC and Axis bank credit cards, you can register on their websites to create Virtual Credit Cards which work only once and are valid for 24hours. You get a different creditcard number for each transaction. Thus, they are more secure as well.

Does this apply to VCC that's issued by any bank? or a specific bank VCC?
 
So you are telling me if I register on netsafe through HDFC and go to tigerdirect (on which websites btw?) and order, they won't know if its Indian CC and ship the order?
 
I assume so. I have ordered from Amazon,Godaddy,NetworkSolutions,Namejet etc before. Never faced difficulty. Havent tried with Tigerdirect myself.

My understanding is that VCC does not have any address associated with the card. (There is a limited information that merchants themselves have about the creditcard that you are using to make purchases). Its always worth a try.:)
