HELP : PPPoe better than Bridge connection?

Is PPPoE better than bridge mode ..?/..cause today i changed the modem settings from pppoe to bridged .. & after setting up everything ... i noticed the pings to the sgservers were up by ~12:rolleyes: , & the pings to primary & sec dns were also higher...

any explanation would be helpful...
i can post the pics if necessary .. but then i would have to require to do the same steps again....

p.s:,,,the ip address were almost similar 59.@.@.@ both the times...& i think that shoudnt be that different..

Any help to sort this would be extremely helpful..

I prefer bridged + a good firewall (or simple common sense).

pppoe is more secure but unless your router supports upnp, port forwarding is a frequent annoyance.

The 12ms difference could simply be by chance.

I also have heard that bridged does make some difference although haven't tried it. Also my router doesn't support unpnp it seems, so do port forward manually :(

saiyan,

wht router, what ISP & where are u located (from the exchange as well as relatively where in India) would make lots of difference. Although my router has bridge mode but 've never used it.

my modem : beetel 220bx
my isp : Airtel
the areas' router is located ~200m from my modem :)

anyway i tried bridge mode to automate the download....thats all..
