CS dedicated server.. help a noob

Hi,

There are 6 of us noob ppl who'd like to play cs 1.6 (non steam) over the internet. lan not possible cos we stay too far away. Countries apart :| . So I'd like to know if it's possible to set up a hassle free dedicated server just for us. I did go through and try out
Counter Strike 1.6 dedicated server installation Tutorial and Counter-Strike 1.6 NoSteam Server Installation Tutorial for Windows but am unsuccessful. The guy at the other end is unable to find me.

Also, another point to note is that I have a BSNL AN1020-21 router which has UDP port 27015 forwarded. But when I try any online tool to see if that port is open, it says it's closed. :|

I hope i've summed things up to a bare understanding. Someone kindly assist.

Thanks,
Blueren

Have you tried the free VPN programs like Garena, Hamachi or Tunngle? Install them, join a room together and you should be able to see your friends under the LAN servers.

Thanks for that, I eventually figured out what was causing the issue.. I'd unknowingly set my DMZ to reject port 27105 instead of accept.
