Thread: Reliance connection messed up?
- 20 Dec 08 12:43 PM #1
I'm on the Reliance wired broadband 600kbps plan. Since yesterday the connection's acting all weird. Not getting full download speeds and all the servers in UK on which pings which were under 150 (TF2) are now 500+

Has anyone else faced the same issue??

yea same here.. but its been the same since last night. gizmodo, engadget all taking ages. Its apparently due to some underwater fibre optic cables being cut which route internet traffic for most of mideast/europe/asia

yep i have the same issue as the op. all pings are messed up - singapore servers that used to ping 100-120 are now in the 200 range... euro servers that were 300 are now 600+ and world of warcraft (california server) is now at 1.5-3 seconds making it unplayable.
download speeds are still ok though, at least from my seedbox ftp so the bandwidth itself isn't lowered. however, trying a pub torrent right now for example is just a bad idea.
this undersea cable problem.. has someone confirmed with reliance that this is the problem?
also, my dad is having trouble accessing his yahoo mailbox. not sure if this could be the same issue but can anyone confirm if they are able to do so? - 20 Dec 08 04:57 PM #5
What a time for my connection to get #$%@# up. Wrapped up with my exams to play TF2 and now stuck with just 5 playable servers instead of the usual 100+

It's getting worse. The pings which were 75-90 last night on the SG servers are now in 120+ range. Hope they repair the damn cables soon.
Stupid freaking ships dropped their anchor last time, who knows what the hell happened this time.. I honestly don't even give a damn. Just want my pings back

yea i tried calling up reliance customer support. i told the guy who picked up my name, location, customer number etc. then told him that my latency to various servers around the world was greatly increased. he asked me my ip address which i told him. then he asked me if the lights on my modem were flashing... and i just hung up.
also, i still can't access yahoo mail.. i keep getting this error
this has been happening since this morning. There was a problem accessing your account. Please try again in a moment.
