Unless the govt reduces the duty on hybrid cars to 0% and the company wants to make an impact the hybrid is no go in India...
Remember Honda had to sell its Civic Hybrid at more than 50% discount and then it sold like hot cakes.

Agreed... I think goverment should do away with the high import duties in the name of protecting the industry. All it is protecting is the interests of the automobile companies.

^ all its protecting is its income, nothing else. no govt in the world cares for any industry imo.

fyi, bangladesh reduced the duty and now hybrids are cheaper there than the normal petrol versions.

Also the one with severe braking and acceleration problems. Hope those are fixed before it comes here.

Perhaps this has been the worst possible launch Toyota would have ever imagined.

thats because in india mileage is imortant, but not important enough to warrant spending lakhs more tan other cars just because its a (hollywood) Green car.
which btw is less green to produc ethan just a normal car
