as per my view, only classical type people go for HH. They dun care too much on mileage, power, looks or anythin[ i mean low end HH]. So their usage too wud be like that only...might not even know what rev..ing is. So shud last long and locks much late.

But those who pick according to reasons like mileage, power or looks might probably go for anythin other than HH [ZMA is an exception]. And ride according to their needs...might over rev as well. So might lockup early.

im saying this coz i havnt seen any one even trying to rev on a splendor .. to glamour. But have seen many trying to kill the engine of platina, discover, stunner, and even gladiators.

So not much point in "anythin other than HH locks up early".

My bro owns a glamour and its a pure piece of shit, even if he never even over rev or do anythin harmful for it. And so is some of my frend's glamour... So as per me, HH sucks[again except ZMA ].

ALso proper servicing is a key point. Heard bajaj service centres doesnt do enuf justice on thatfrom any, but not in my area atleast. Here bajaj servicing is one of the best, yamaha and HH being the worst.

Madnav --- I have a friend who has a Pulsar 150(the first version. No DTSi) and it's been used for more than 7 years. Before him, his bro used it. Various office boys have used and you can imagine the kind of rough usage it would have seen.

It work perfectly even now. It's a little gruff but that's because they dont get it serviced regularly. After one service, it's back to purring. It's probably done 70-80 thousand kms. So, I dont believe people who say HHs are more reliable.

I'm not saying the HHs are bad bikes, but neither are Bajajs.

Ok, Im really confused now.

The suggestions from you people seem to be:

Bajaj CT100, Platina100 or Platina125??
Hero Honda Splendor Plus

I am not that concerned about the resale value because I really don't plan to sell them until they become junk or too expensive to maintain. What I want is really good mileage and something that is not too expensive to buy/maintain either. I'm not that concerned about the looks as it is for the employees and mainly for work purposes. So it should be something practical.

Just get the cheapest and smallest. If the HH workshop is closer, then get the HH. If it's Bajaj, get the Bajaj.

From what I understand, you will be giving the vehicles to your employees to ride around the factory and for relatively short distances outside it. It's not like they are going to be riding it for 50-60 kms everyday.

So, performance, looks, comfort isnt a factor. Reliability, FE and cost of maintainence are the important things. Just get the cheapest.

Ideally, the HH Splendor or Bajaj Platina !
You could gather some inputs locally to aid your decision.

Leave 125cc bikes out of the equation.

Bajaj bikes will be a lot cheaper to maintain and run compared to HH. Parts/cables for bajaj are way cheaper compared to HH. AFAIK.
Get whatever bike is cheaper. Im sure you can work out a good deal with a dealer if you are buying 8 bikes.

Yeah, Splendor plus is the base model and Platina is the base 100c model.

what factory work is it?
will they put heavy stuff on the bikes, or just marketing stuff?

platina may improve employee's moral though ..lol

i personally think splendor(all related) should have been phased out 20 yrs back.
its an " uncle's" bike.

Maybe I am wrong about Bajaj's reliability. Two of my cousins had Bajaj bikes - the old Caliber and the Caliber 115E and both gave end no of problems. My friend also had an old Caliber which also gave a lot of problems.

On the other hand my CBZ is running for 9 years and 70k kms now and I still love it more than any other comparitive bike like Honda Unicorn, Pulsar etc. And I generally service it only when it stops working !

My mechanic gave me a 2 year old Pulsar to ride and maybe it was not services properly but the engine was already sounding rough, and the whole ride felt bad.

But it could be down to bad luck. My neighbour and another friend had bullet bikes and they never gave problems. But we all know about the reliability of the bullets !

BF1983, the Calibers werent great. Bajajs of old(the KB100 era) were super reliable. Then they lost the plot with bikes. The intermediate bikes werent great. The Caliber, Caliber Croma and the hoodibaba bikes were so-so. After that, they seemed have got their groove back.

@nikhil
the old pulsar was great.
two of my friends have 150 DTSi , engines locked after soon 50k km or one and other one did around 56k.
current range of entry level HH and bajaj suck, the idle 100c bike was the 1st gen splendours imo.

@dominator
my bro too has pulsar dtsi, some 5 year old... requires oil change every 1000-1200km to keep average in 45-55kmpl range. If not changed, then it drops to 25-30kmpl after 1300-1400km. most HH bikes can do 1800-2000km without oil chance.
and about engine locking, i clearly states early in terms of distance traveled.
The newer engines maybe better or worse, haven't had any personal experience with that.
