Default Wired Remote Controller /POD for Creative Insire 5.1 M5200

I have Creative Inspire 5.1 M5200 speaker system and the wired remote controller / POD for the same has developed internal wiring damage, and i'm too lazy to replace the wiring.

The system is compatible with remote controller of inspire 5.1 T6060 as i have tried that.

M5200 is a discontinued product.

i went through creative support section and there they have adviced to contact distributors...
i contacted the distributor at compuage and he was reluctant to help, he said NO for any wired remote controllers.

so i'm kind of clueless to where to get one from..

any inputs ?

Why not repair it yourself.i m sure the likes of gannu would help if the problem would be minor that is if pcb is not damaged.or else buy a 2.1 speaker with remote and see if it works for your system.

the pcb is completely fine.
i have done a ghetto fix but for that i have to keep the remote controller open.

creative' moronic support system requires a serial number even to post queries...apparently there in no serial number on the speakers or subwoofer..i dont have the box and bill since its age old.

creative has 3 distributors in india and the one at lamington is reluctant to help, will try my luck with other distris now...

I have faced the same issue. They do not provide any assistance if you are out of warranty.

My fix: simple 3.5 - 3.5 audio cable, volume control directly from the PC.

I had a similar problem with my M5200. The volume would keep on changing on its own. Basically that variable resistor got bad. I just soldered the terminals after opening the volume control and now the speakers are defaulted at max volume. I just control the volume from my PC now.

Whats the trouble with your stuff ?

the wires inside the remote controller cord are damaged internally..
i used to work if i twist the wire somewhere ...but that stopped working...
there were no cuts on the cord which could lead to that..
maybe the ground wire got corroded.. it kinda had no insulation ..
so i cut the cord from the controlling unit..
can connected all terminals manually on the pcb.. it works..

the ironic issue is that the speakers should not work when headphones are plugged in...but its the other way around
infact the controller doesnt show power LED ON until i plug in any headphone connector.

will post some pics in some time to clear out what i have done.
