Weird problem with xtrememusic I have a creative xtrememusic soundcard which is 3 years old ,which i was using with a 6 month old core i7 920 pc .
It was working fine till today when i disassembled the pc for cleaning .
After re-assembling, the pc was freezing at windows startup screen . Did a clean install of vista 64 . Now the system hangs when i install the soundcard's drivers(had 3 trials of it) , I have installed rest of the drivers without a problem.
I removed one of the RAM's from the slot and the soundcard drivers got installed and it was functioning . On reconnecting the RAM with the soundcard i had the freezes again at windows startup screen.
I then removed the soundcard leaving the RAM in place and the system booted without any problems or errors . I have been stressing the RAM without any errors .
So finally decided to use the onboard soundcard and hadn't had a problem since then .
It is really a stepback . onboard soundcard is no where near the quality of the dedicated card . I have AL mx5021 speakers and am really missing the sound quality.
Here are my system specs
i7 920 @2.66ghz
Asus p6t deluxe V2
9 GB RAM (6 GB gskill + 3 GB OCZ)
Seagate 7200.12 (500 GB +500 GB in raid 0)
MSi GTX 260 sli
Tagan BZ 800w
X fi xtrememusic
Can there be conflict between RAM and soundcard , couldn't find anything regarding this on google .
There are some some Ic's and the ssd for expressgate near the pci slot in asus p6t deluxe could one of those have been damaged (on physical examination there is none though)
(What is the cost of xfi xtreme gamer and xfi titanium soundcard).
I have been looking for similar problems over the internet all day long .
I have a doubt should 'plug amd play' option in bios be enabled or disabled while installing the soundcard . does it make any difference.
Bump................
