Default Did I damage my Amp?

Guys,
This is really stupid of me... but I recently purchased Pioneer VSX 917 Reciever (AVR). I connected a passive subwoofer to its Sub-Pre Out and there was no audio. I later realized/learnt that it needs an active subwoofer. My AVR is working fine with speakers, but have I damaged my AVR by attempting to connect a passive sub to my AVR. If I buy an active sub, will it work now, or has my sub port gone permanently kaput

Bad days are upon me, already a 8800 GT gone thanks to a leak in water cooliing and now this.....

Default Re: Did I damage my Amp?

try connecting the sub out to some sort of amped speaker ( even a normal pc 2.1 speaker will do ) . if you hear some sort of bass and no distortion, then you are safe.

typically, these outputs have current limiting and protected from damage from such happenings

just try it out to make sure
