You will need a DVD decoder software as windows media player doesn't come bundled with it .... you could install K-lite codec pack or power dvd/win dvd else use VLC to play.

Ifu are hell bent on using WMP,then try nvidia's purevideo (if u have a nvidia card)

well i have the klite codec pack installed still it doesnt play

Check Cyberlink DVD Decoder while installing Klite Codec Pack.

hi quad followed ur advice and the think was working fine but recently formatted my system and installed the latest codec pack and by the way mpeg1/mpeg2 dvd comes checked by default in the new pack installation but i am not able to play dvds in wmp is there any other thing to check
