Try Hiren's boot cd. I've had great success with it in the past when I accidentally deleted and formatted partitions (Couldn't tell /dev/sda1 from /dev/sda2 ). I would recommend that you use it with a USB HDD to prevent accidental writes to the HDD you're recovering from.

I accidentally formatted a partition on my drive recently. Tried various recovery softwares like Recover my files, Rstudio, Easy Recovery. With Stellar Phoenix I was able to recover all my lost data. Give it a try.

I'm assuming the screwed up HDD is still in the box and you're booting from the CD. Navigate the menus and locate Active Partition Recovery. This will help locate the previous partitions. Actually scrap the plan with the USB HDD. Just boot from the CD, and see what active partition recovery shows and recover it.
