Default New TF2 Update : Next Class Pack will be Scout

Quote:
It’s not quite 2009 yet, but Valve is back to updating TF2. (Woo!) In the first post on the TF2 blog since mid-October, Valve’s Robin Walker spills the beans on some new features for the Engineer and Spy, as well as some fixes to the game. Even though it was posted yesterday and claims the update is coming “in the next few days,” it’s already here. For once, Valve time was faster than normal time.

Here’s what was changed:

• Teleporters will be upgradeable to level 3. As the teleporter is upgraded, the cooldown will decrease.
• Dispensers will be upgradeable to level 3. They will heal faster and generate metal faster as they are upgraded.
• Spies will be able to recharge their cloaking ability by picking up ammo off of the ground.
• We’ve made a bunch of minor changes by adding particle systems and upgrading the HUD to show things like deaths by critical hits, players that are overhealed, and giving more information to medics when people are calling for them.

Don’t expect the developers to sit on the Engineer and Spy after this update, though. “These are just to work on some class balance and depth issues that we’ve seen in the wild with these two classes, but aren’t meant to replace their entire class packs. They will be getting more attention further down the road.”

In addition to those minor updates, Robin also talks about what’s next for TF2. For starters, the next class update will be for the Scout. According to Robin’s post, “One of the main goals we’re focusing on for him has been to provide tools that make him useful in maps like Dustbowl & Goldrush.”
Along with the Scout class pack, Valve’s also working on bringing some elements of L4D’s engine over to TF2. No idea what, but it won’t be an entire engine replacement; just a few choice parts.

And for you 360 owners, don’t worry, a massive 360 update giving you all of the TF2 PC patches is in the works. Valve isn’t sure when you’ll get it, but you’ll get it. So the couple dozen of you who still play TF2 over XBL just stay strong, and soon you’ll be up to date. Until the PC version gets a patch the day after that, that is.
