on my side, i managed to install kubuntu on the system...still stuck with the restricted drivers though. the installation did chip away one .dll file and windows wouldn't run. but hey, at least i know linux will work on this system. had to reformat the comp. will try to install kubuntu using manual partition manager next time.

How do u go about installing OS's?
I have installed ubuntu 4 times, XP 4-5 times, and Vista once on my 160 Gig HDD but never messed up.
I installed ubuntu on 10 GB unformatted partition:
/swap - 512 MB
/boot - 50 MB
/ - remaining...
How do u do?
